Reading 1GN 3:9-15, 20
After the man, Adam, had eaten of the tree,
the LORD God called to the man and asked him, “Where are you?”
He answered, “I heard you in the garden;
but I was afraid, because I was naked,
so I hid myself.”
Then he asked, “Who told you that you were naked?
You have eaten, then,
from the tree of which I had forbidden you to eat!”
The man replied, “The woman whom you put here with me—
she gave me fruit from the tree, and so I ate it.”
The LORD God then asked the woman,
“Why did you do such a thing?”
The woman answered, “The serpent tricked me into it, so I ate it.”
the LORD God called to the man and asked him, “Where are you?”
He answered, “I heard you in the garden;
but I was afraid, because I was naked,
so I hid myself.”
Then he asked, “Who told you that you were naked?
You have eaten, then,
from the tree of which I had forbidden you to eat!”
The man replied, “The woman whom you put here with me—
she gave me fruit from the tree, and so I ate it.”
The LORD God then asked the woman,
“Why did you do such a thing?”
The woman answered, “The serpent tricked me into it, so I ate it.”
Then the LORD God said to the serpent:
“Because you have done this, you shall be banned
from all the animals
and from all the wild creatures;
on your belly shall you crawl,
and dirt shall you eat
all the days of your life.
I will put enmity between you and the woman,
and between your offspring and hers;
he will strike at your head,
while you strike at his heel.”
The man called his wife Eve,
because she became the mother of all the living.

Reading 2EPH 1:3-6, 11-12
Brothers and sisters:
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,
who has blessed us in Christ
with every spiritual blessing in the heavens,
as he chose us in him, before the foundation of the world,
to be holy and without blemish before him.
In love he destined us for adoption to himself through Jesus Christ,
in accord with the favor of his will,
for the praise of the glory of his grace
that he granted us in the beloved.

The angel Gabriel was sent from God
to a town of Galilee called Nazareth,
to a virgin betrothed to a man named Joseph,
of the house of David,
and the virgin’s name was Mary.
And coming to her, he said,
“Hail, full of grace! The Lord is with you.”
But she was greatly troubled at what was said
and pondered what sort of greeting this might be.
Then the angel said to her,
“Do not be afraid, Mary,
for you have found favor with God.
Behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son,
and you shall name him Jesus.
He will be great and will be called Son of the Most High,
and the Lord God will give him the throne of David his father,
and he will rule over the house of Jacob forever,
and of his Kingdom there will be no end.”
But Mary said to the angel,
“How can this be,
since I have no relations with a man?”
And the angel said to her in reply,
“The Holy Spirit will come upon you,
and the power of the Most High will overshadow you.
Therefore the child to be born
will be called holy, the Son of God.
And behold, Elizabeth, your relative,
has also conceived a son in her old age,
and this is the sixth month for her who was called barren;
for nothing will be impossible for God.”
Mary said, “Behold, I am the handmaid of the Lord.
May it be done to me according to your word.”
Then the angel departed from her.

Blessed Rafal Chylinski
December 2. This Polish Conventual Franciscan served in the military, but felt the call to the vowed religious life. Rafal was known for his simple and candid sermons, for his generosity, as well as for his ministry in the confessional. People of all levels of society were drawn to the self-sacrificing way he lived out his religious profession and priestly ministry. He also played the harp, lute, and mandolin to accompany liturgical singing
Verse Of The Day 12/02/19
O LORD, … be not silent. Do not be far from me, O Lord. Awake, and rise to my defense! Contend for me, my God and Lord.
Thoughts on Today’s Verse…
God sometimes seems to be distant and not to be listening to us. Think of the hundreds of years Israel was in bondage praying for God’s promised Deliverer. “Isn’t God listening?” they must have repeatedly wondered. Yet at the right time, God sent his Son and brought deliverance. Thankfully, God doesn’t ask us to pretend that everything is okay when it isn’t. He filled the Psalms with cries for deliverance and help. You may find yourself in a position where these words are yours. If you are, realize that thousands of Today’s Verse participants are praying today for God’s immediate and powerful deliverance of you.
My Prayer…
Almighty God, may your name be revered in all the earth just as it is among the angels of heaven. Show the power and might of your Kingdom in our day. Deliver your Church and your children from the hands of the evil one. Bring deliverance to your children who are crying for your help with spiritual, family, health, or financial problems they are having. May our lives be lived to your glory, now and forevermore. In the name of Jesus I pray. Amen.
Daily Readings 12/02/19
On that day,
The branch of the LORD will be luster and glory,
and the fruit of the earth will be honor and splendor
for the survivors of Israel.
He who remains in Zion
and he who is left in Jerusalem
Will be called holy:
every one marked down for life in Jerusalem.
When the LORD washes away
the filth of the daughters of Zion,
And purges Jerusalem’s blood from her midst
with a blast of searing judgment,
Then will the LORD create,
over the whole site of Mount Zion
and over her place of assembly,
A smoking cloud by day
and a light of flaming fire by night.
For over all, the LORD’s glory will be shelter and protection:
shade from the parching heat of day,
refuge and cover from storm and rain.
The Time To Celebrate The Birth Of Our Lord Is Near
What are you and your family doing to prepare? Ill bet its the getting of gifts, cooking, gathering of friends and all this is good but not wholeheartedly within the full meaning of Christmas.
Christmas time is a time to honor our Lord and Savior. We can do this by spending time with our loved ones as Mary did with Joseph; making each other happy with kinship. I know however sometimes this can be easier said than done with the stress of the holidays, but just remember the stress our Saviors parents must have been under fleeing from King David. Much like Jesus came to help “repair” our relationships with God, as we to must try to do so on earth. After all the Lord would like to see us as one big happy family.
Another thing one can do is to go visit others that cant get out for the holiday, much like the wise men did when they came to see Jesus. After all He and Mom were certainly not going anyplace anytime soon.
Something else I’d like to see people do this year is to talk about the birth of Christ and why this is so important to the holiday. I would like to see you tell anyone and everyone that will listen and put yourself out there, dont be shy. And when you do speak, speak kindly to one another and dont talk behind peoples back as the King did about Mary’s son, our Savior.
In short, though we be in modern times let our bible be our guide this holiday season.
