What I think we all shall do

We should treat people as their the same as us until we know any different. Even though we may be bias some people are not out to get us some people are the same as us. No matter what nationality they are, no matter color they are it’s all the same. I have experienced this and I had to learn it the hard way. So I know it’s true. It changed my whole thought process. I don’t know why a lot of people are so bullheaded, but people are people. Don’t matter where they came from or if they’re of color or white. My life has been changed forever now until I know any different. I will treat people like I want to be treated. That’s my lesson for the day. And I know it’s pretty deep, but know all people can be treated this way. It some effort on my part too, so don’t feel lonely. If you have difficulty don’t feel alone. Even though I know the facts I will still will have difficulty myself, and fall back into my old ways as with anything. We both have to go forward in life. I love you all… Your brother in Christ Jon

Verse of the Day

Verse of the Day for Friday, June 16, 2017:

This is what the LORD says: “Stand at the crossroads and look; ask for the ancient paths, ask where the good way is, and walk in it, and you will find rest for your souls. But you said, `We will not walk in it.’ — Jeremiah 6:16

Thoughts on Today’s Verse….

Temptation is a choice between the old path (God’s will for us) and a new path provided by Satan. So often Satan’s path is presented to us as a shortcut to happiness, prosperity, and accomplishment. However, this path leads us away from God and the blessings he longs to give us. Let’s not be like the people of God in Jeremiah’s day who refused God’s way and said, “We will not walk in it.” The outcome of their choice was their own destruction.

My Prayer…

O dear Father, Almighty God, forgive me for turning from your path and seeking a way that seems easier and a path that appears to lead to happiness more quickly. Through your Holy Spirit, help me look through the facades of Satan’s tempations and see their bitter end result. I know your way is the way of joy, peace, and rest. Please give me courage to walk it confidently. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.

Memorial of Saint Anthony of Padua, Priest and Doctor of the Church
Lectionary: 360

Reading 12 COR 1:18-22

Brothers and sisters:
As God is faithful, our word to you is not “yes” and “no.”
For the Son of God, Jesus Christ, who was proclaimed to you by us,
Silvanus and Timothy and me,
was not “yes” and “no,” but “yes” has been in him.
For however many are the promises of God, their Yes is in him;
therefore, the Amen from us also goes through him to God for glory.
But the one who gives us security with you in Christ
and who anointed us is God;
he has also put his seal upon us
and given the Spirit in our hearts as a first installment.

Responsorial PsalmPS 119:129, 130, 131, 132, 133, 135

R. (135a) Lord, let your face shine on me.
Wonderful are your decrees;
therefore I observe them.
R. Lord, let your face shine on me.
The revelation of your words sheds light,
gives understanding to the simple.
R. Lord, let your face shine on me.
I gasp with open mouth
in my yearning for your commands.
R. Lord, let your face shine on me.
Turn to me in pity
as you turn to those who love your name.
R. Lord, let your face shine on me.
Steady my footsteps according to your promise,
and let no iniquity rule over me.
R. Lord, let your face shine on me.
Let your countenance shine upon your servant,
and teach me your statutes.
R. Lord, let your face shine on me.

AlleluiaMT 5:16

R. Alleluia, alleluia.
Let your light shine before others
that they may see your good deeds and glorify your heavenly Father.
R. Alleluia, alleluia.

GospelMT 5:13-16

Jesus said to his disciples:
“You are the salt of the earth.
But if salt loses its taste, with what can it be seasoned?
It is no longer good for anything
but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot.
You are the light of the world.
A city set on a mountain cannot be hidden.
Nor do they light a lamp and then put it under a bushel basket;
it is set on a lampstand,
where it gives light to all in the house.
Just so, your light must shine before others,
that they may see your good deeds
and glorify your heavenly Father.”

Gods Mercy

Gods Mercy is like a waterfall ready to forgive us of our sins. All we have to do is ask.  God will wash away our sins if we trust him as were supposed too all the time. My question is,” How can you learn to turn to him all the time even when you have things on your mind that will steal you away from him.” I know it’s hard but all you have to do is ask for help and he will give you help, but you have to be willing to receive it after you ask for it. Ask God to be with you wherever you are in life. But you have to be willing to receive it. I know that it’s hard to do especially with today’s society. And I know it’s hard to do with your family, but you have to make yourself slow down and be in the moment. Your brother in Christ Jon.

Verse of Day

Do not offer the parts of your body to sin, as instruments of wickedness, but rather offer yourselves to God, as those who have been brought from death to life; and offer the parts of your body to him as instruments of righteousness. — Romans 6:13

Thoughts on Today’s Verse….

This long verse boils down to a very simple message: We are to glorify God by what we do with our bodies. We were dead in our sin, but God has made us alive through our participation with Jesus in his saving death, burial, and resurrection. How can we go back to the hideous sins that master us and lead us to death? We shouldn’t! We mustn’t! And by God’s gracious help, we won’t. Our commitment to live for his glory and the power of the Holy Spirit will help us live for him!

My Prayer…

Father, God of grace, please forgive me for the times in my past when I flirted with sin. I know how much you paid to redeem me from my sin. I know the power of Satan to use sin to entrap and enslave me. Bless me as I commit to live for you, with Jesus as my Lord, and the Spirit empowering me to honor you. In Jesus name. Amen.
